The photo was taken before the BP oil disaster. Typically these boats would head out to the gulf or into the bay to fish for shrimp. After the BP spill, they may as well have run aground. Some aided in the oil recovery within the bays, others just stayed tied up, putting a lot of local fisherman out of work.
