Photo Friday - Seaside
It's been awhile since I posted any photos bu this weeks Photo Friday challenge reminded me of some shots I took recently while on a business trip to California. This is "Pigeon Point" lighthouse. It's about 15 miles south of Half Moon Bay. I was in San Diego on business and had another meeting at the Menlo Park VA Hospital. I had the weekend free so I took the opportunity to take a ride along Highway 1 down the coast. Getting to the coast was interesting. I had to cross a relatively tall coast mountain. The road up was windy with switchbacks every couple of hundred yards. Going back down the other side was "interesting" as I shared the road with many motorcyclists, mostly "crotch rocket " variety who took great pleasure navigating the switchbacks at speeds I thought was crazy. When I first arrived on the coast it was pretty foggy and grey. The first time I drove by the lighthouse it was a pretty dull looking scene so I continued on down the coast. I eventually turned around and headed back and the sun was starting to burn off the fog. By the time I got to the lighthouse this is what it looked like. When I got up to the lighthouse and looked out to sea, there were several harbor seals sunning on the shoals that fronted the lighthouse. I took a lot of photos while driving up and down Highway 1, there were photo ops around each turn. I wouldn't mind returning sometime and spend more time cruisin' and shootin'.
