Photo Friday - Shiny

Outside of the Gulf Coast most people don't know that New Orleans was not the originator of Mardi Gras celebrations. It actually originated inMobile Alabama and quickly migrated to Pensacola Florida before making it to New Orleans. This week's Photo Friday theme reminded me of one of last year's Mardi Gras parades in downtown Pensacola. This person was one of several similarly dressed individuals on the "Masquerades" float. What caught my eye the first time were the masks they wore. However, the costumes (see Photo Friday - Costumes) they wore were quite elaborate and shiny.

Photo Friday - Wildlife

During the late spring and on throughout the summer Dragon Fly are all over the backyard. We can use all the help in the world to help deal with the smaller, pesky insects, especially the mosquitoes which we seem to get more than our fair share of. These guys eat their fair share of anything that flies within their domain so they are a welcome sight.
